Embedded Linux solutions
2net supply training, consultancy and custom software for Linux
and other embedded platforms. 2net was started in 1998 by Chris Simmonds
since when we have provided services for a wide range of customers
some of whom are in this list of customers
2net can supply expertise in Linux for embedded systems, especially in
writing board support packages and device drivers, and customising
boot loaders and toolchains. CPU families used include ARM, Power PC
MIPS and of course x86.
Chris has written some tutorials on the subject under the heading
"The Inner Penguin". Current entries cover
remote debugging with Eclipse and reducing JFFS2 mount time.
2net has worked over the years to provide focus and clarity to the - sometimes - amorphous
world of embedded Linux.
2net has created a number of training courses for Feabhas Ltd and Chris Simmonds is
a regular presenter with Feabhas. The Courses include "Developing for Embedded Linux"
and "Developing Linux Device Drivers"
Although not as common as it used to be, DOS is still a very good embedded platform for
simple applications. Before forming 2net, Chris was the product manager for DR-DOS,
then owned by Caldera, Inc., so we have some experience of DOS internals. A particular
focus has been TCP/IP networking and we have written a Web server and an FTP server plus client
programs for FTP, HTTP and email (SMTP). Typical applications include hand-held computers,
vehicle diagnostics and remote sensing.
